Rustic by design, Saltillo is named after the town in Mexico where it is made. It is made from very unique clay found almost exclusively from a high mesa in north central Mexico. The Clay found surrounding the city is the perfect consistency for making the tiles. The tiles are highly absorbent and can be stained any color, not just the five standard colors available. We recommend coating them so that they don’t loose their original color.
